Sunusi Usman Yerima
Sunusi Usman Yerima is a PhD Student in Doctoral program in Physics (Atmospheric Physics) at Bayero University Kano, (Nigeria). He holds a bachelor degree in Physics at Bayero University Kano, Masters in Physics at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil. He had also finished Master of Technology degree in meteorology and climate science. His research interests include environment security, climate change, urban ecosystem services, GIS and Remote Sensing, natural resource management, policies evaluation, urban sustainability, Dynamics of the Atmosphere, Air pollution meteorology, Atmospheric aerosols and climate negotiations. During his Master’s studies, his research focused on the estimation of rainfall over Nigeria. He then became familiar with the importance of handling large amount of data. moreover, during the journey of his master of technology, He compared the working performance of two automatic weather stations sited side by side at (WASCAL) in the federal university of technology Akure. This led him to pursue a PhD in Physics with specialization in atmospheric Physics. As PhD candidate, he is currently working on the analysis of the impacts of variations of aerosol particles concentration and relative humidity on the visibility and microphysical properties of desert aerosol: modelling and validation. His research has brought new knowledge about the use of both modelled aerosols particles size distribution and their respective effect of varying the relative humidity at various levels to effective use in the aviation industry and the field of aerosol engineering.
In addition to his academic pursuits, he is a weather forecaster and principal meteorologist. He taught life and earth sciences, meteorology and physics at both 0 level and A level for over five years in Nigeria. Also, passionate about football, travelling and meeting new people.
