Joyce Freda Apio
Joyce Freda Apio is a human rights’ lawyer, governance practitioner and rule of law expert with over a decade experience. She has served with distinction in international development assistance for a significant number of years of her career. She holds a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria – South Africa and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from Makerere University Kampala.
She is a currently the Programme Manager – Gender and Civil Society Support for International Development Law Organisation (IDLO) where she manages technical and financial assistance to state and non-state partners to improve access to justice for all justice seekers. She has deep interest in climate governance as an area to diversify her career path. She completed the Climate Leadership and Diplomacy Course at AGNES (Cohort XII) and acquired enormous knowledge and skills in climate negotiation, security, programming prepared to contribute to climate action. She has hands-on experience in institutional development including law reform, capacity enhancement, research, and strategic growth.
