Ibrahim Modu Aji
Ibrahim is an energy-climate nexus enthusiast with hands-on experience in sustainable energy. He has a B-Eng Electrical and Electronics Engineering and he is currently a west African Science Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) scholar, pursuing master’s program on renewable energy and green hydrogen at Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny. I have been involved in different organizations and where I created a significant impact in promoting the use of renewable energy and mitigating the impacts of climate change in my community. Through my participation in the Renewable At the Centre for Integrated Development and Research (CIDAR), I was part of technical teams that provide solar-powered Boreholes and water sanitations and hygiene for thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps in Maiduguri, Nigeria. The climate club program I initiated at Shehu Sanda Kyarimi Gov’t Day Secondary School impacted over 200 students on climate change, and the students were enlightened about the importance of renewable energy and environmental protection through refuge management and tree planting. Ibrahim is currently working towards establishing his own organization tagged “EcoLake Power Initiative ” to provide offgrid electricity in unserved and underserved communities in North Eastern Nigeria.
