Hope Gertrude Muli
Hope Gertrude Muli has been trained on Climate Governance, Diplomacy and Negotiations under the auspices of the Leadership program of the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES). She has 18 years of experience in program management in the democratic governance sector and an additional 8 years of experience in the banking sector. She has vast experience in advancing social inclusion and fiscal openness through open contracting, open budgeting, open ownership and open data within the broader open governance agenda.
She chaired the session on fast-tracking the realization of Sustainable Development Goals in Least Developed Countries and at the 2019 United Nations High Level Political Forum. She has been a key note speaker, panelist and moderator at many international meetings including, the 4th and 5th Global Open Government Partnership Summits, the 62nd session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, the 5th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, the 2018 Global Partnership for Social Accountability Forum hosted by World Bank Washington office, amongst others. In 2009 and 2010, she was elected as the Human Rights representative in the UNDP Amkeni wa Kenya Stakeholders Reference Group on democratic governance in Kenya. In 2004, she was elected to Chair African Union Youth session on the Africa Youth Charter by Youth representatives from 53 African Countries.
She has been part of diverse high- level delegations and policy engagements with African Union, European Union, World Bank, the United Nations, East Africa Community Secretariat, East Africa Legislative Assembly, the Governments of Tanzania, Malawi, Kenya, Chad, Libya, Mali, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, Argentina, Spain, France, amongst other governments.
On the supply side, she has provided technical expertise and engaged with parliaments, Ombudspersons, supreme audit institutions, government ministries, departments and agencies to enhance responsiveness to civil society and citizens’ priorities and rights.
On the demand side, she has provided technical expertise, led evidence based policy advocacy and overseen social inclusion projects that have enhanced the voices and choices of citizens, civil society organizations, civic tech companies, think tanks, faith based organizations, media development organizations, Community media organizations, mainstream media houses –largely private sector, media associations, freelance journalists, academic centres to engage with government agencies, ministries and parliaments on a non-partisan basis.
She has a Masters and Bachelors degree in International Relations. She is fluent in written and oral English.
