Aliseba Akinyi Waga
My name is Aliseba Akinyi Waga, and my fervent commitment lies in addressing environmental concerns and championing social and climate justice. I am dedicated to fostering awareness and action among young individuals, harnessing their potential to create a sustainable world. Guiding and empowering youth in comprehending the intricacies of climate issues, as well as facilitating their engagement in meaningful climate actions, brings me immense satisfaction. Furthermore, I aspire to cultivate a generation of young leaders who will play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future through active participation in climate initiatives.
Participating in AGNES’ Climate Governance, Diplomacy, and Negotiations Leadership programme, part of the esteemed cohort XII, has proven transformative. This invaluable opportunity has illuminated the intricate web of climate change science, enhancing my grasp of its multifaceted aspects. I’ve navigated the complexities of geopolitics and gained profound insights into the pivotal functions fulfilled by diverse entities within the UNFCCC. The program has also illuminated the nuances of funding mechanisms, sources, and pivotal frameworks such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement.
AGNES stands as a remarkable catalyst that has fortified my role as an emerging African climate leader. Through honing my knowledge and negotiation skills, I now possess the tools to effectively participate in international climate policy discussions. This empowerment extends to my active involvement in the translation of climate actions from ideas to reality, spanning regional and national contexts. My journey with AGNES has imbued me with the aptitude to contribute substantively to global climate discourse and to drive the successful implementation of sustainable initiatives.
