AGNES @ Africa Climate Summit and Africa Climate Week
September 4 - September 8

The AGNES team and our partners will participate in a number of engagements and events during the landmark Africa Climate Summit and Africa Climate Week, both being held in Nairobi in the first week of September. Explore the details below and follow @AGNESAfrica1 for updates.
Kenya, representing the African Union and UNFCCC, is all set to host the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) from September 4th to 6th, followed by Africa Climate Week (ACW) from September 4th to 8th. These events are of paramount importance as they pave the way for COP28.
ACS, taking place from September 4th to 6th, serves as a crucial gathering for African Union member states. It provides an invaluable platform for these nations to unite and advocate for heightened climate action. The primary aim is to bolster livelihoods, expedite economic growth, and facilitate Africa’s access to international markets while steering clear of emission-intensive development. During ACS, African states will openly align their objectives to unlock climate finance and investments, fostering greater climate resilience and just transition pathways for the continent.
ACW, spanning from September 4th to 8th, is part of the UNFCCC’s annual Regional Climate Weeks. In 2023, ACW assumes even more significance as it gears up for the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai and the conclusion of the inaugural Global Stocktake. This Global Stocktake plays a pivotal role in charting the course to achieve the core objectives of the Paris Agreement.
