Africa-Wide Webinar Series on Understanding and Engaging with the IPCC AR7 Process
August 19 @ 8:00 am - August 23 @ 5:00 pm
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the authoritative global body responsible for assessing the science related to climate change. Its Assessment Reports (ARs) are critical resources that inform global climate policy, guide national strategies, and influence academic research. As the IPCC embarks on its seventh assessment cycle (AR7), it is vital that Africa, a continent highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, is well-represented and actively engaged in the process. The first of the products in the IPCC seventh assessment cycle (AR7) are a Special Report on Climate Change and Cities and a Methodology Report on Short-lived Climate Forcers (SLCF). The outlines for these two products were approved at the 61 session of the IPCC panel and a call for nomination of coordinating lead authors, lead authors and review editors issued. This series of sub-regional webinars across African organized by the African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES), aims to bridge the gap in the representation of Africa’s experts by sensitizing and supporting the nomination of experts to fill the required roles.
