On 17th and 18th October 2024 in Nairobi, the induction workshop on the empowering women’s Leadership in Climate Governance Program is set to happen. While Climate Change disproportionately affects women and girls, women themselves are agents of change providing unique perspectives and knowledge, vital for addressing climate change challenges, making their representation in leadership and climate governance essential in fostering resilience and adaptation. The African Group of Negotiators Expert Support (AGNES), in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Climate Investment Fund (CIF) is desirous to empower women leaders by providing opportunities to amplify their voices through major climate events.
What we look to achieve
Through the induction workshop, the program will
- Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and build capacities of the women leaders to improve their climate leadership skills,
- Provide capacity building sessions to enhance the leadership skills of the select women,
- Introduce the women leaders to the objectives and expectation of the program: Empowering Women’s Leadership in Climate Governance Program.
Expected Outcomes
The expected outcomes are:
- Strengthened leadership skills and peer to peer learning among the women climate leaders
- Enhanced understanding of the expectations under the Women leadership Program
